On a savoury section of rue St-Denis (part of which is still famed for its ‘working ladies’ in fur coats and suspenders), this friendly Anglo-haunt is frequently packed to the gunnels, especially during mid-week happy hour (Mon-Fri 5.30-8pm) and on Fridays for ‘Speed English’, a word-guessing game, rather like Taboo. The Frog & Rosbif’s brunch is popular with weekenders in need of decent bacon and sausages. If you come on a Sunday, make an afternoon of it and stay for the quiz night (8pm). You could win a jug of beer or a dinner for two.
