Inside Le Bataclan, a historic 19th-century Chinese-inspired theatre, the gay community gathers three times a month for the Follivores/Crazyvores soirées. The original 'Nuit des Follivores' has been going strong for 17 years and has bred two offshoots on different nights, 'Nuit des Crazyvores' and 'Crazyvores+'. While the slightly eccentric posters don’t do much to convey the concept, the idea remains the same across the board. Pump house and pop music through the speakers (everything from Abba to David Guetta) at this spacious concert hall, sell some cans of beer, and voilà, instant gay party. Organizers say that each night attracts over 1000 people. The crowd tends to be younger but relaxed and unpretentious, the perfect place for a group of friends to dance the night away while making new acquaintances. Later in the night shirts start to come off and a fog machine may give that ever-important cloud of cover to leave your group and go home with a new friend, but it’s not as cruisey as some other parties. A €19 entrance fee scores you a drink and a virtually guaranteed good time.
