Review:

Among the most notable of Paris’ new independent restaurant openings in the summer of 2010 is Haweli. This classically decorated traditional Indian restaurant brings a welcome taste of the east to the Poissonière district of the 10th arrondissement, close to Quartier Montorgueil and all its traditional Parisian brasseries. Run by Punjabi and Indian chefs, Haweli’s kitchen specialises in well-spiced, slow-cooked tandoori dishes. Haweli is careful to offer a balance of fish, seafood, meat and vegetable dishes so that there’s something for everyone, especially curry fans who love the classics, like butter chicken, korma and biryani. For a change from the usual mango, try Haweli’s rose lassi; it’s amazing.
