Time Out says

5 out of 5 stars

Boxed wine (you know, with the little taps) is practical, inexpensive, voluminous – but not known for its quality. If the likes of BiBoViNo have anything to say about it, though, that may change. Nestled among the swanky bobo eateries of the Marché des Enfants Rouges, decked out in a loud Cadbury purple, this curious little shop is probably the first we've seen that is entirely dedicated to cubitainers.

Or rather 'bag-in-box', which the manager tells us is the politically correct term for what is quite literally a bag of wine in a box. BiBoViNo was launched by four wine lovers and expert sommeliers who noted the growing fad for cheap wine sold by the carton, and spotted a gap in the market. Their concept? To sell quality wine in boxes, at correspondingly reasonable prices. In a bid to preserve quality, they have also reduced the quantity of sulfites normally added to wine to arrest fermentation – which means that you'll need to guzzle your purchase within four months max. Which shouldn't be too hard when the wine is this lovely. Prices start at €19 (for three litres), but we recommend investing in a Château Le Tap white (€24) or Crozes-Hermitage red (€40) while you're at it. With 25 varietals in total and a growing network of stores in and outside Paris, BiBoViNo is onto a winner. Looks like it's time to cast off your prejudices and embrace the box.
