Brits: it’s time to rebook that French vacay. Due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant, France had effectively shut its borders to all travellers from the UK over the festive period. But from tomorrow (January 14), fully-vaccinated Brits will be allowed into the country again.

Under the new rules, visitors to the country will have to show proof of having all available jabs – including the booster (if over the age of 12). The vaccine certificates on the NHS app will be accepted at the border.

You’ll also need to provide proof of a private, negative lateral flow test, taken in the 24 hours before travel. And there are two forms you need to fill out, too: a ‘passenger arrival form’ and one confirming you don’t have Covid

If you need more information, you can check the France Diplomacy website for more details on status of different countries and the full list of restrictions in place for travellers to France. But in short, if you’re from the UK and you take all the above steps, you can now safely plan that Alpine ski holiday or Parisian city break for 2022. Hurray.
